Trained in cinema in Paris and Prague (at FAMU), Julien Sallé explores the moving image in all its artistic dimensions: fiction, documentary and video installation. His films have been presented in numerous festivals in France and abroad (Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes, FIFA Montreal, Côté Court Pantin, Busan International Film Festival, Bratislava International Film Festival, Greenwich Film Festival, Temps d’image Lisboa, Escales documentaire de La Rochelle…). In 2010, he was awarded the Grand Prix de l’Académie Charles Cros for his documentary Or, les murs.

During the year 2008, the composer Thierry Machuel pys regular visits to the penitentiary center of Clairvaux, where he conducts writing workshops with voluntary prisoners.
