Tomas Ericsson is a disillusioned pastor in a small seaside village. One day, a married couple comes to see him – the husband is anguished by the menace of the atomic bomb. “I was clever enough to foresee that the film would not appeal to the general public. One could regret this, but the film was necessary.” Images, Ingmar Bergman.
“The Mass service remains a last hope, when everything else has failed: a lie, a drunkenness, a comfort, a tangible proof not of the existence of God, but that of Man.” Ingmar Bergman, le magicien du Nord, N.T.Binh.
