Malu Janssen studied theater and film at Utrecht University. In 2016, she graduated from the Netherlands Film Academy with a degree in fiction directing. Her short films "Eigen, Stuff" and "A Cappella in D Minor" have competed and won awards at festivals such as PalmSprings, Shortfest, Raindance, Seoul Film Festival, and Winterthur.

Biography

Malu Janssen, originally from the Netherlands, has established herself as a director and screenwriter in Amsterdam. Her filmmaking career includes short films such as "STUFF" and "EIGEN / Our Own", which have been recognized at various festivals. "STUFF" won Best International Short Film at the Seoul International Short Image & Film Festival and the International Filmmaker Festival of New York, as well as Best Art Direction at the Planos Film Fest.

Her short film "A Cappella in D Minor" also garnered accolades, receiving Best Dutch Short Film at the Filmfestival Tegenstroom, the Zilveren Krulstaart for Best Short Film Script from the Dutch Screenwriters Guild, and Best Cinematography at the Vers Award.

Malu is currently working on her first feature film, "De Afvalligen", while continuing to actively contribute to the Dutch film scene.
